Terms of Use

1. Who we are

The Bookkeeper's Helper is operated by Detroit Girl Friday, a Michigan business. We offer online bookkeeping training through our student portal.

When you create an account, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the portal.

2. Your account

You must be at least 18 to create an account. Please give accurate information and keep your password private.

Your account is for you alone. Sharing logins or course materials with anyone else ends your access without a refund.

3. Courses and access

Foundations is free. It covers three months of cash basis bookkeeping and unlocks the full course when you complete it.

The Food Truck & Catering course is sold by the quarter for $197 or as a full year for $750. Quarters are taken in order, and each one unlocks only after payment.

You can keep working in a quarter you've paid for as long as your account stays active. We may retire a course version with at least 90 days' notice.

4. Payment

All payments run through Stripe. Prices are in U.S. dollars and may change, but changes never affect a quarter you've already bought.

Nothing unlocks until your payment clears. There are no automatic renewals or subscriptions.

5. Refunds

Course content becomes available the moment you pay. Because of that, all sales are final and we don't offer refunds.

Before buying, you can try the free Foundations course to see if the training is right for you.

6. Placement test

You need a score of 80% or higher to enroll without completing Foundations. You can retake the test after 24 hours.

Please take it on your own. Your result only helps place you in the right course.

7. Grading and completion

Your work is checked automatically against an answer key, and some items may be reviewed by an instructor. Numbers within $1.00 of the key count as correct.

When you finish all four quarters, you'll get a certificate of completion and a skills transcript.

This certificate isn't a license, credential, or professional certification. It shows that you completed our training. It doesn't guarantee a job, clients, or income.

8. Instructor messages

Instructors reply in character as the fictional business owners. Response times are posted in your portal and may change with demand.

Please keep messages respectful. We may suspend accounts for harassment or abuse.

9. Our content

Every course email, scenario, business, character, answer key, worksheet, and file belongs to Michelle LaChance dba Riverview Collective, LLC. It's for your personal learning only.

You may not copy, resell, post, or share it, and that includes uploading it to AI tools, study sites, or social media. Your own completed work is yours to keep and show to employers.

10. Third-party software

You can use any bookkeeping software you choose. We aren't affiliated with Intuit, Wave, Toast, Stripe, or any other company named in the course.

You're responsible for any software subscriptions or accounts you sign up for.

11. Limits on our responsibility

The course is provided "as is." To the extent Michigan law allows, our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months.

We aren't responsible for decisions you make with real clients or your own business based on the training.

12. Changes and ending access

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or in the portal.

You can close your account at any time. We can close accounts that break these terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by Michigan law. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Oakland County, Michigan.
